Early in 2008 Alex Boardman was nominated in the Rising Star category at the Sony Awards for his work on the Galaxy FM breakfast show. That show achieved record figures for any show in the station's ten year history, however a change of ownership led Alex to return full time to his first love; stand up comedy.
2007 saw Alex's first solo stand up tour entitled "Hit The North" (after a favourite song by The Fall) at a number of arts centres around the UK. The tour was a mixture of stand up and improvisation and gained good critical reviews.
Alex has also performed at numerous comedy festivals around the UK and has performed two one hour shows, the first one entitled "Nappy Mondays" that charted his transition from "Lad to Dad", and the second entitled "Everyone thinks he looks daft" (after another favourite song by The Wedding Present). Again both were received well critically.
And no, he is no relation to Stan Boardman.
